We haven't gone to the vet for so long ever since so many of you helped with Havi's tummy problems.
We have tried to ask ourselves each time something is wrong "if she were a human, would we go to the doctor?" This advice, from Maisie and Me, seems to have done the trick. But when I saw these on Havi's lip, we decided to go.
The vet determined they were viral warts! Yuck! Anyone else ever have this problem? Havi, as per her usual self, does not seem to care or notice!
What's the weirdest thing you're pup has ever had at the vet?
Hope everyone has a fun weekend!
I have heard of dawgs havin warts. If I (Frankie Furter) remember correctly.. they seem to go away... by themselves.
ReplyDelete1 of my dogs had these, as a young dog. There's little you can do; they are common in young dogs with immature immune systems. As Havi gets a bit older and her immune system develops a bit more, they will go away on their own. Basically they are not to be worried about! :)

Bailey gets little growth on his paws from time to time that I thought were warts, but the vet had another name and they went away with meds.
ReplyDeleteis it like a cold sore that people get which just goes away on its own? or is this more a result of Havi's previously mentioned sluttiness? :P

p.s. I noticed the link to me doesn't work, you've got an extra part in the URL. not a big deal, just sayin'. ;)

My brothers dog Oscar has them. I think he said they fell off and went away. One night Pug got in to my bag and I thought he ate gum so I rushed him to the ER vet. They pumped his tummy and found several zipper pullies from my coat, apple, and a large piece of leather from my ex's rug...no gum.
ReplyDeleteWhen in doubt - it's always good to check and like the others have mentioned - they will probably disappear in time
ReplyDeleteWe've noticed that sometimes Miss M gets pimples, but they usually go away. I liked Mayzie's Mom's advice too.
ReplyDeleteOh mannn!! I checked for these SO many times. Puppy warts. Yucko! I agree with the people above though, they're self-limiting, but consider upping her immune system. There are several things that can help, so many I won't list them here. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWell, I used to have to go to the vet regularly with my kitty when he was still alive. He had a lot of health issues and at one point, I didn't even have to say my name - the receptionist recognized my voice!
ReplyDeleteI don't really remember any of the wise stuff the vet ever said. I do remember my kitty needing to go for an emergency visit on a weekend and my old vet decided he no longer wanted to work weekends. He referred me to another vet and there was no turning back. For one thing, this new vet asked why my cat was so thin and said he was underweight. The old one told me kitty was too fat! I had guilt for months because I'd been starving my sweet kitty because of the old vet.
Thanks so much for liking my pictures...I continue with more tomorrow and Sunday 'cos I had so many 300...is that too many ;-) ;-)
ReplyDeletePS I haven't had any weird stuff happen to me yet...fingers crossed..it doesn't happen. Cheers!
Ummm, I sorta had a butt lift. Fur real. I woz getting infekshuns because of too much skin around you-know-where and that made me lick all the time and that made it worser and made me lick more. Mom did not want to keep putting me on antibiotics. So the special V-E-T surgeon did a nip and tuck and problem solved.
ReplyDeleteBaily got them as a pup

Sorry to hear you have to go to the vet. Yuck. Though, we try to avoid that a much as possible, we seem be living there lately, so we sympathize.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by our blog and saying hi.
I've heard of these. We found a white bump on Oscar's tongue once, and I did some Googling and read about them. Yuck. We were bringing him to the vet for something else and asked the vet about it. She said it was probably a wart, though it was smooth and not cauliflower-looking like they usually are. It went away within a few weeks. Lucky thing, because we were told not to bring him to his doggy day camp or to other places where it could spread. I figure that's probably where he picked it up.
ReplyDeleteHavi, I am sorry you had to visit the vet again. Hopefully it wasn't too scary. I like my vet and don't mind going, but it can be scary to get shots. OUCH! I am pretty lucky as I have only had to go twice (except for routine shots)...once because I had a swollen toe and the other due to a bleeding paw. Hopefully we will both stay healthy and not have to go often. WOOF!
ReplyDeleteWinnie had these when she was a puppy- they were SO GROSS!!! They took about 2 months to completely go away- The vet said there's nothing you can do and every dog in NYC that goes to the dog park gets them at one time or other (usually when puppies) -- don't worry!! They will be gone soon enough! Kind of like the dog version of chicken pox :)
ReplyDeleteMy input is a little late - but some puppies in my rescue got these too. Apparently they can be something that just "go around" but aren't a big deal :)
