Today I finished A Visit to the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan, this book was recommended by Maisie and Me as well as GoodReads book club. Speaking about GoodReads, I added a widget to the side of the page! My goal is to read 36 books by the end of the year. I have read 13 books to date this year! (For some reason, the widget lists some from last year)
Give me books to add to my to-read list! What was the last book you read?!
The Lost Dogs was the last one I read. Exceptional. Especially for pittie lovers and activists. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat challenge!!
oh, so glad you liked it! I recently read "Room" and "This is Where I Leave You" as well. I don't know if you like nonfiction or are at all interested in politics, but I read "Game Change" (about the 2008 Presidential election) last year and it is one of the most simultaneously fascinating and entertaining books I've ever read.

I've been reading mostly children's books for my education blog.
ReplyDeleteI joined goodreads too! I love it because I get emails when others finish their books or make comments and it reminds me to read my book that's sitting on my bedside table. Good luck with the 36 books.
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite books i've read in a long, long, long time, by far, is "special topics in calamity physics." it's an incredibly, witty, beautifully-written, imaginitive novel that i think you will really like, if you enjoy clever wordplay.
ReplyDeleteNow that we're finally on break (we had to go in to make up a couple of snow days) I'm excited to be able to read. I actually own the book Loveandaleash mentioned above, so maybe I should read it but I love to see your recommendations, as I've gotten a little caught up in vampire pulp books.
ReplyDeleteI read before bed and usually fall asleep pretty quickly, but I do have a long list of "to-reads." I'm not sure if you're into biographies or history, but I'm currently reading Cleopatra: A Life and it's really engrossing. I love historical books especially about ancient Rome, so I knew I would like this one.
ReplyDeleteI want to read Dog Sense. I heard an interview with the author on NPR. He's a scientist who studies dog behavior. Really interesting interview. That will probably be my next book unless I feel compelled to read something baby-related.
I'm on Goodreads too (love it!). I haven't read anything in awhile but I'm finally getting back into it, I'll have to check out some of these books!
ReplyDeleteI love goodreads but I havent logged on in a while. I just finished "The Help" which was really good and I am currently reading "The Mezuzah in the Madonna's Foot" which is amazing so far. Love reading good books! For a while I felt like all I was reading was dog training and behavioral books and now I feel refreshed again.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend the Kate Shugak series by Dana Stabenow. They include a wonderful wolf/dog named Mutt.
ReplyDeleteThe Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger is my favourite book. A few other good ones are Still Alice by Lisa Genova, and Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay. I just finished reading Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson - it's like 50 First Dates, but more sinister, and I thought it was an entertaining read.
ReplyDeleteAlso - you once asked about crate pads that are chew-proof. I was looking at this again the other day, because we've now given up on leaving anything in the crate that Oscar has hooked up to his e-pen because he nibbles on his blankets, and came across Kuranda beds. They apparently make a crate bed, and they've gotten rave reviews. They're on the pricier side, but I'm thinking about getting one - they look interesting.
