The Power of Blogging

We LOVE this blogging community!! Especially the things we've won such as when Havi was the Dog of the Day, and then featured on Pitter Patter and True Story Tuesday, and winning an antler form Maisie and Me, and wining a portrait from Art By Elizabeth.  Were all lucky pups!

But I was especially astounded when I saw the participation In Two Pitties in the City's SuperLevi fundraiser.  Photos came in from around the country (36 states to support Levi).  And because we're a little short on cash, we tried to support via social media promotion.  But Havi wasn't so happy about being left out...

I also loved Mayzie's Rescue Me week, where bloggers featured pups that need adoption on their blog last week!

I did not know about about That Touch of Pit, a blog run by a foster dad who pulls from Animal Haven (where I volunteer!) until Love and a Six Foot Leash featured him today!  Where have I been?!

Saturday night after DS played hockey at Chelsea Piers, we settled in to watch the Season Three Premiere of our Favorite Show: Pitbulls and Parolees.  It is about a woman who runs a ranch for pitbulls in Villalobos, CA and her employees are all parolees.  She gives pups and people a chance that no one else would.  Needless to say DS, Havi and I cry through every episode.  Head on over to Chase Community Giving to vote (just one click!) and help them raise money for their ranch (run exclusively on donations) and check out some other GREAT charities.  They are currently on their way cross country to rescue dogs from Hempstead, LI where pups were rescued from a dog fighting ring (this holds a special place in my heart, because I attended undergraduate there).

Also, check out this great article from Mashable.com about how one animal charity used social media to introduce their brand!  I love social media. Geek.

Does anyone else watch Pitbulls and Parolees, what do you think?!  Who else is a NYC blogger I don't know about?!  What did everyone do this weekend?!

  1. Hey DS & LS!
Wow, my peeps and I love Blogville too! There is always a ton of things going on. I started a new site wwwDOTbccalendarDOTblogspotDOTcom to help us all keep up. Lots of charity events. Crossed Paws has raised thousands. I don't watch this show, but I like most things on Animal Planet. My peeps shopped alot over the weekend so I was left to "guard the yard" which is very important. Hello Havi!! I'd love to see more pix of you. :)

  2. I have seen that show a few times and I can't help but tear up every single time. She has done incredible things for dogs and for humans. It's pretty overwhelming to watch.

I am glad blogland has been so lucrative for you and Havi! ;-) There are so many great things about this community, aren't there?

  3. I admit to watching the marathon on Saturday while Izzy was recovering from doggie daycare and I was recovering from too much wedding fun.

We're not NYC bloggers technically, but we're right across the way in Hoboken!

  4. We're going to go over to check out That Touch of Pit! We're not in NYC, but about 2.5 hours north in Albany! We love the Blogville community... it's so wonderful to watch people come together for the benefit of a dog!

  10. Awww...thank you for talking abouts Rescue Me Week in your bloggie. We're just so happy to be part of Blogville cuz there's lots of Most Wonderful and Caring peoples who belong to it.

My mom just LUVS Pit Bulls and Parolees! We haven't watched the new show yet but we were very much sad to hear that the peoples in the new town they were gonna move to had their minds closed so tightly shut. I hope they find a much more wonderful and welcoming place to go.

  12. I, too, was so happy that Sir Chick's parents had so many guest posters while they were away. I've been introduced to lots of wonderful new bloggers. I haven't heard an update on Super Levi, but I hope that enough money was raised for his eye surgery.
