eek!

We didn't realize two whole days had gone by since our last post! Dental Student finishes up his last final today at 4:00PM. We are celebrating with dinner at one of my favorite sushi restaurants, Amber, by using a deal site coupon via LivingSocial. There are three locations across New York City, so we definitely recommend it!

To make up for missing two whole posts this week, we will spend the weekend updating our blog with inspiration from A & A Friese, Twenty-Six to Life, and Maisie and Me.

Wednesday I went to a great restaurant with my family, Rare, which serves superb hamburgers and fun dipping sauces for french fries. We then headed into the Theater District to see Billy Elliot - the dancing was outrageous! At night I went with Havi's Favorite Babysitter to see Bridesmaids, def worth the movie ticket. Thursday the cleaning continued and then I saw Something Borrowed, which was just as cute - love Kate Hudson!

We love reading, and especially love GoodReads. GoodReads is a social media site for book lovers, you can list books you've read, want to read, and recommend and comment on other's picks. I just finished up Book of Joe, by Jonathan Tropper. He's a fun easy to read author, I would definitely recommend. He explores the normal idiosyncrasies of everyday families. I just started Augusten Borrow's Running With Scissors. Dental Student is dedicated to reading the classics. Have fun recommendations? Friend us on GoodReads, or check it out, or leave some ideas in the comments!

Have a great weekend and hope you look forward to Monday's post, where we may have an updated blog, and find out why Dental Student had a voicemail from the District Attorney's office today!

  1. So glad you guys are back :) and thanks for the shout out, can't wait to see how things change around here by Monday. The Mr. and I saw Bridesmaids on Tuesday we laughed the whole time, we need to see Something Borrowed next! I have been such a bad reader lately, I can't seem to get into a book, i think I am to distracted by all the sunniness going on up here. Congrats Dental Student on being done with finals- how exciting! Happy Friday all enjoy your sushi!

  2. ooh, excited to see whatcha got coming up! I am actually eating sushi for lunch as I write this (well, I put the chopsticks down to type, but you get the picture). I read two books when I was in the Bahamas, the first was "A Visit from the Goon Squad" which has gotten a lot of well-deserved buzz lately. the second was a old book called "Shelia Levine is Dead and Living in New York,", it was originally published in the 70's but was still surprisingly relevant. it's about a slightly overweight, approaching 30 woman feeling major pressure to settle down and marry a nice Jewish boy. she decides to kill herself instead. did I mention it's really really funny? ;)

  3. Ah - life has this annoying habit of getting in the way sometimes and passing by way to quickly. Two days is nothing - you really worry when a whole month goes by before you realize you haven't blogged!!!

  4. I love Goodreads too! I haven't read anything in awhile - I really need to get some more ideas for books to read!

Thanks for the shout out :)

  5. Wow, sounds like you've had a fun few days. Mom says to tell you her two favorite books are "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving and "Watership Down" by Richard Adams. Prayer is about two boys who grow up together and Watership is about a band of rabbits. She says to try them...you'll love them both! Personally, I'd recommend Marley and Me. Gotta have a dog in it! Say hi to Havi for me.

  6. I might have to get on Goodreads so I have some good things for the summer. We're excited to see your new look, and we'd love to see your ideas for touristy things to do in NYC that could include a dog (and perhaps for 'selfish' reasons as E's brother lives in NYC and we're considering if it would be completely crazy to do an East Coast trip and stop in a couple cities where we know people).
